 What is Vesterbrook Farm’s CSA?

Community-Supported Agriculture (CSA) is a mutually beneficial partnership between a farm and community of supporters (members).  Our CSA is a private group of like-minded individuals and families who desire to eat healthful and nutritious foods, reaping the benefits through generations. Members receive weekly totes of fresh and nutritious organic produce.   This happens when members purchase a share of the season’s harvest.  In doing so, they assume the costs, risks, and bounty of growing food, along with us, the farm. What sets Vesterbrook Farm’s CSA apart?

Vesterbrook Farm’s CSA is a unique partnership with you in that the crops we grow, eggs we deliver and livestock we raise are ( TRANSITIONAL Certified Naturally Grown (CNG - a grass-roots certification which holds to stricter standards than the conventional organic certification). Buying local furthers our regional economy. In addition, when needed for a balanced diet, we include produce from other CNG/organic farms to supplement our crops, especially during the colder months.

Our CSA was begun by the owners, Mike & Carol Brabo, as part of their own attempts to combat cancer and other health issues. They and all of the farm staff are also CSA members and we eat what we grow and sell, testing recipes in our own kitchens to share with you how best to incorporate fresh, nutrient-dense foods into your diet. We provide a helpful newsletter each week that not only lists the items in your share, but also includes recipes for them, storage tips, as well as other pertinent information for the health-conscious consumer. This is a family farm that has been in the family for nearly a century, and the relationships that are built are rich and long-lasting as part of this heritage. We would love for you to join us as a new CSA member and enjoy the benefits of this holistic, healthy enterprise!
